Dr. Meir Barel
Dr. Barel is Senior Advisor to the Korea Israel Innovation Center. Dr. Barel has been engaged in the international venture capital business for the past 25 years.
He established STAR Ventures in 1992 with the objective of investing in companies affiliated with Israel. Since its inception in 1992 Star Ventures has built over 180 cutting-edge high-technology companies, resulting in over 82 IPOs and profitable acquisitions. With $1B under management, STAR is known for teaming with leading serial entrepreneurs and innovators on disruptive technologies that define and dominate high-growth markets.
Exits include Ciena, Precise, Fundtech, EZChip, Orckit, Alvarion, Ceragon, Creo, EFI, Technomatix, BigBand, Decru, Acopia, Broadbus, Sheer Networks, Topio, Followap, Intercell, Cadent, AVT, Aeroscout, Broadlight, etc.
From 1986 to 1992, Dr. Barel served as Investment Manager and, subsequently, as Managing Partner of Techno Venture Management GmbH & Co. KG, one of the largest venture capital companies in Germany.
Dr. Barel holds a Master's Degree and Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the Department of Data Communication at the Technical University in Aachen, Germany.
